BMW microphones are directional and will not properly pick up audio unless oriented the right way. The arrow on the back of the microphone must face towards the front of the car.

The upgraded mic was implemented in late 2004. So you might have either the old one or the new one. The new one has noise canceling functionality.

Did you ring the indy shop and give them a row of F's or are they the only ones you can go to?

Guess I'm lacking in common sense, 'cause the mic looks like it gets installed 'arrow up'. Damn, I was feeling really common and sensible today.
