The fact that you mention having the volume turned up makes me think you're talking about something else too, since the dock connector is a line level output and is independent of the volume setting on the device itself.

I assumed he got the right cable, if not, then yeah he should call EAS and at the very least call up an Apple store for some advice.

Lastly, since I just remembered, make sure to put your radio into AUX mode as it does not do it by itself.

I have a factory fitted AUX input. I cannot get it to work. I have plugged my Creative Zen MP3 into it but how do you switch the radio to AUX? Ther is nothing in the manual about this.

Do you guys know if this kit will work on an X5 built before 2003?
I got this part number from the dealer 65120153502 which they claim is compatible but I read on forums that I need a business CD 2003 or newer.
thanks

Should be in your radio or nav manual. Just push the mode button until you get to AUX. Should cycle through, cd (if you have a changer), sirius (if you have it), radio, aux.

Check with Tom @ EAS and he'll know for sure.

I don't have NAVI, DSP or anything. I'd like an AUX input since I use my Palm Treo to stream online radio. Newbie question here....do I have to buy some fancy $75 adapter kit or is there a homebrew way of doing it. I don't even see an AUX mode button on the radio, so how does it know I wanna listen that way?

Uh, I think I just answered your 2nd question 1 post up.

To get an aux input, it's not a fancy adapter kit, just a wire with the proper connectors on it and integrated resistor. See the tips and tricks page.

From my understanding, you guys are talking about a 3.5mm adapter to an Ipod connector. I'm just wondering about a generic 3.5mm input so I can plug my Treo into the that headphone jack. Someone mentioned they mounted it in the glovebox or in the ashtray...I just need the 3.5mm input in general, unless the glovebox already has it from the factory and I didn't know.

Cancel that, I found it in the how-to's.

$76 dollars to listen to my Treo thru the stereo?!?! I felt like I was getting taken spending $15 from eBay to buy the same thing for an Alpine deck that converted the AI connector into a 3.5mm headphone jack. There has to be a better way than this or the dealership. Are you guys buying them online or the stealership only.

You are late to the game. 1-2 years ago they were $30 MSRP. Prices have since gone up.

I hate it when BMW raises prices from seeing things we want...AUX input cords, but then lowers prices on things they screwed up on but don't wanna own up to repairs....burnt pixels, radiators, waterpumps, thermostats, heater diverter valves, etc
