No, they do not extend past the bumper, but they are longer than the stock 4.4 tips. Maybe this pic will give you a better angle. The tips (and mufflers) are from Dinan.

FSETH you said it perfectly, the quads are classic!! Ok so now the big question... Has anyone on the board changed their 4.8is tips? I don't mean all new mufflers, just changed the tips? Don't get me wrong, I would love a Dinan exhaust but don't want to spend the money on it.

i love the squared tips

I'm with you 100%

I have a 3.0i and i changed the whole exhaust to the 4.4i with the black chrome tips instead of getting the 4.6is/4.8is exhaust.

I prefer dual round tips. I see several people switch to the 4.8is style tips. I assume I could remove the tips and put on dual round tips to fit the 4.8is exhaust?

I now see what you are saying and it's a mod that's a lot cheaper than what I had in mind with the welded-on 4.8 tips.

The X below doesn't look too shabby with the chrome round tips::thumbup:

Man...I really want to do this, but the X is my wifes DD and I am afraid she might not like it as much as I would. I have been thinking about doing it and not saying anything. I wonder how long it would take her to notice? Once heavy on the throttle perhaps?

Believe it or not I mentioned to my wife that I was gonna do it first (her DD too). I did it without telling her and she NEVER noticed the difference. After a while I told her and she said "oh, it's not bad at all." :D    Do it!

BTW .. it doesn't really sound as loud as my audio clip. It was recorded too close I think.
