You need to remove the 10mm nuts that hold it to the fuel rail, then unclip it from the injectors. (or sometimes to avoid those pain in the ass injector clips I remove the 10mm bolts that hold the rail down and pull the whole rail up injectors and all, but likely not worth it in this case)

:D

Weasel

He did remove the four nuts shown in the above post, the cable ducts won't fold inward. He thought maybe the clip inside under the plastic cover was preventing them from folding in. He can't seem to get them to move

I truly appreciate you helping with this. You by far have been very helpful on questions we have had. You have helped a lot. Thanks

There is no need to open the plastic housing/loom. The clips on the plugs for the injectors are a bitch to let go... just takes precicion leverage or a long angled pick to pry out the retainer springs on the injector plugs, but those are what's holding it at this point. They don't just fold inwards as they are against the brackets they are bolted to. If you just want to try to push it over just enough for clearance, try removing the 5 10mm bolts that hold the fuel rail down to the manifold. (one front center, 2 on each side where the black brackets that go across bolt down)

Thanks Weasel, we will try that in the am. I hope it works, your advice usually does. Have a good night. I will update tomorrow am.

find pictures in e38 tips on x5 home page , i replaced my left bank seals on sunday and got pissed off at same point as you so was delighted to find link . ignore coathanger if you have a thin screwdriver and use a small flashlight, read the instructions properly, the spring clips will probably fall onto engine but once you remove wiring box you can easily pick them up.
re attach clips to connectors on box as it just pushes back on to injectors and clips lock into place .
forgot to mention that you will need to lay forwards onto engine to see and remove clips .
