Yeah, pretty much mine :D I don't have straight pipes but short resonators like in the writeup article by DanDe. Here's the link ti the article that first drew mw to X5world as I knew the exhaust was going to be one of the first mods I'd do.

The only thing I don't like is the left, right, left, right pulsation from the rear due to the firing order. It is smoothed out with the x-pipe, but more raspy with the straight throughs. I plan to replace the internal x center from magnaflow and swap the rear section of pipes with some 2.5" and replace the mufflers with either some flowmasters or magnaflows, adding back the 4.6is style tips. I want a deep, low tone with a decently loud and smooth delivery.

Required by law here, my car is due for an inspection on yearly basis.

Does any one know if having the X-Pipe breaks any major rules and regulations? I don't have the details of the staff that they check, but it should be pretty close to the UK standard.

Also, I've seen a lot of discussions on the Magna X-pipe, Hargte.. etc. Will there be any big difference in terms of the results and prices?

go check out some sound clips and hear the difference.

but in the end if its the stock sound you want.. then to each his own.

I agree with the majority here so far on the sound difference between a stock V8 and a V8 with an X-pipe. There is also a suibstantial difference between a stock 4.8is sound and my 4.4i, even though both are V8's. I was at the dealer a while back and a 4.8is started up and lets just say it made me pay more attention than mine does. Also, it may just be my X, but it seems to me that I hear more engine noise/whine than exhaust sound. The X-pipe makes all the difference from the sound clips I have heard. I hope to do this mod soon, personally.

Anything after the cats is usually fair game as long as you don't exceed the noise limit.

Differences in the x-pipes, results difference none to minimum, price a huge difference. Magnaflow can be had for around $200 installed and the Hartage I believe is around $1,000.
