Radio Upgrade

My pixels are going and I was wondering if I should upgrade to a newer radio or even Navi?

How hard is it to Install a navi on this type of BEZEL?

I would just replace it! Retrofitting a stock navigation unit is going to cost you a lot of time and money.

:iagree:

Plus...That's just the display and control unit. The actual radio is in the rear of the vehicle.

That was a known recall/warranty repair... maybe the dealer will help you out.

Since its a 2003, he would be out of new car warranty. Hopefully it's CPO'ed or he can get some goodwill from the Dealer/BMW.

Don't believe any dealer programming needs to be done. Should be P/N: 65806914608, but you may want to pull yours out and double check it.

It's like a 10 minute uninstall/reinstall.

The directions:
(1) Remove the radio power/volume knob (you have already done that)
(2) A small hole will be revealed at 6 O'clock position. Use a bright light to locate a 2mm allen screw inside the hole.
(3) Engage a #8 Torx wrench and turn about 90 degrees. This will retract spring loaded tabs holding the MID.
(4) While still holding the trox twisted, gently pull out the MID

the good will on the MIDs are no longer done. and FYI the radio is the Business CD. For navi the radio is in the trunk.
