Additionally, one of the things that made the X5 even more appealing to me was BMWs CPO program; the extended warranty and service is worth it IMO. With that said, BMW claiming a vehicle has been through a XXX point CPO warranty means nothing. I thought that "inspection" would be more thorough than my own, and I can personally state that it is not. Do your own thorough inspection. Now, my BMW dealer has been excellent and had no issue fixing anything I pointed out. Finally, with BMW offering 0.9% on 2005 and 2006 3.0 and 4.4 models I really couldn't justify spending more on a 4.8 or buying private party non-CPO.

My $0.02.

BTW - that Imola Red 4.8L is gorgeous, and personally, I wouldn't let Navigation influence my decision. I have it and rarely use it. With hand held GPS systems and smartphones that can be updated constantly I find them more reliable than the maps on the navigation unit.

Well said, I felt the same way and ended up with a 4.4i 2006 CPO. I have the e46 M3 as a toy, the 4.4i is an awesome daily.

15-20k off market is a tough find. At the end of the day if you're comfortable with your buy after your research and after your pre-purchase inspection - then its a perfect buy for you. Plus, after this site you'll spend some $ in MODs so might as well get a warranty while you're at it. Either CPO or an extended. Keep in mind the higher your mileage the higher your extended warranty if not on CPO.

The BMW deal of .9% financing is great. I agree with the navigation - i wouldn't make it a big deal if you dont care much for it. If you don't plan on watching movies on the nav etc.

thanks for all of the help. If I do find one through Ebay, Ill make the actual buy in person, after an inspection to be safe. I wish the Perforated Alcantara was easier to locate! Same with the Aluminum trim. From what I've read on here its possible to switch out trim pieces? So if I bought wood I could switch it myself for the metal for a few hundred bucks? Also, there were only 3 upholstery colors on the 4.8is- black leather, creme leather and the black perf. alcantara? Thanks for the info!!!

So they are pretty hard to find huh? Especially when you want one with the perforated leather interior. Anyone know someone who wants to sell one? or know of one for sale?

There is a 2005 4.8is in my area with the Alcantara interior.

The car has been posted on Craigslist for about 6 months now.

Thanks- Im in NJ but I'm almost at the point where I'd consider something that far, since they are so rare. Anyone know of something closer to the East Coast?

No problem! Didn't know how desperate you were to find one.

If you end up having some interest in that one I would be more than happy to go check it out for you.

High on mileage though.

make sure the sunroof does not leak into the car! it's really a headache to fix and expensive! I was told by BMW it would be 2,300! And therefore, I have yet figured out what to do about getting it fixed.
