Can't get them to work!!!

This is essentially what I have (except it is pre-installed in my headlight) TTACH]34305[/ATTACH]

I also had this same set up from a previous headlight assembly... and a different supplier (I couldn't get this to work for me either)

How much simpler can this be?; Connect one lead from the ballast to a known POS and the other lead from the ballast to a known NEG, right?

I have tried wiring them forwards and backwards to no avail!

There are only 2 leads; WHY can I NOT get these stupid things to illuminate????:dunno:

You installing architectural lighting for landscaping makes me think it's not you then. Must be something else....Here is a full proof method: Provided your AEs are connected with inverters, thake them directly to yours or a random, charged car battery. If they still don't lite up...it has got to be dead rings or inverters ...who installed your AEs?
I had bought mine like in the picture above and tested before baking the headlight. When all was done, one big ring was dead. So somewhere in the cooking proccess it got damaged or something melted. I then bought a spare ring and re-cooked the light and all was good. I bet it's your rings. I would buy a new set and test/swap the inverters first before opening the headlight. I know, it sucks...hang in!

I bought the headlights on ebay 2001 2002 2003 BMW E53 X5 HALO PROJECTOR HEADLIGHTS BLK:eBay Motors (item 370204252279 end time May-22-09 07:34:27 PDT)

The rings are part of the whole assembly as a plug-n-play and the inverters are inside the headlight assembly. They are wired directly to the DRL plug on the backside of the headlight. Unfortunately, I did not test the rings before installing them on my X.... Doh!!!

At the time I was more concerned about swapping the projectors so that my OEM Xenons would fit (I had to bake the headlights to do the swap...messy glue and all...what a pita). The stock Xenons and self-leveling works great, but I suppose that I could have damaged the rings (an/or inverter) during the baking process.:banghead:

Ahh at least you went through it before...I haven't yet...Before I get to that I need to buy an inverter...for some reason it won't work ..

ARTRIGA 06-22-2009 05:54 PM

I don't know what's inside the inverter, but I'm pretty sure it's not for baking. Not at all! For melting, yes. That's what's up. I'm sorry to tell you this, but you need a new set. I bought mine here: ULTRA WHITE BMW E53 X5 CCFL HALO ANGEL EYES RINGS 00-03:eBay Motors (item 110400204894 end time Jul-08-09 10:00:51 PDT)
