So, I went to the local stealership to get my D2S xenon bulbs changed to a 6000k set on my '06 4.4. The SA comes scratching his head and tells me that they will have to charge me 1 hour labor because they have to remove my bumper to change the bulbs.:loco:

I have done this on my '04 3.0 in the past, but with the new one I'm a little afraid to do it myself because I don't want to mess up my adaptive headlights or something else.

Is there a major difference in the procedure between and '04 and a '06 , or are they trying to take me to the bank ?

standard price for all e53, 1 hour to remove head lamp and replace the bulb. your actually getting a deal, since the 2004 and up ones, they have to remove the bumper partially to remove the headlamp. i usually charge 1.5 hours for facelift x5 and 1hr for pre-facelift. and this labor is only for 1 side. it is actually 2 hours of labor standard time for removing and refitting front bumper.

04 and 06 should be the same.

Just a thought;
No one that I know of who installed 6000Ks
were pleased with them over time. So you may
want to think carefully before proceeding.

I already had these bulbs on my '04. I had matching HID fogs as well and I liked it better than the 4500k.:dunno:
