What do you think Jeff....worth it??

Rich:thumbup:

I wish I had dyno'ed it before and after the Dinan stuff installed, just to see what the gains and losses were.

To me it was worth it! For a few reason. 1) It knocked me back down to earth in realizing the X5 isn't a sports car. 2) It was my first dyno event 3) I finally got to hear the Dinan exhaust from outside the car.

I would say do it, if I were you Rich. But if your 3.0 puts down better numbers than me, I may have to go look for a new car!:rofl::bustingup

sure stinks- took you a few thousands and a dyno to realize it was not a sports car and even want to sell it?:D

The X5 isn't going anywhere! It's a great SAV! Plus I know at 6'8'' I am going to have a rough time fitting into a sports car, unless its an M5, then I will use a shoe horn to get myself into it!

Actually, if I'm reading the graph correctly, the picture is even more sobering than that: look like max whp on the 3 runs was 273....It was the torque that touched 300 ft-lbs, at around 4200 rpm.

On the other hand, you'll see these crankshaft-to-drivetrain losses for just about ANY vehicle, so it's not as bleak as it seems. When talking horsepower, you have to compare apples to apples, not apples to oranges.

Your 4.8is still a beast of an SUV, especially with all the Dinan mods you just threw into it. I think you can easily beat a Cayenne S with your package, and are essentially equal to a Cayenne GTS.

Specs from Porsche website:

Cayenne S = 385 hp @ 6200, 0-60mph = 6.4 sec
Cayenne GTS = 405 hp @ 6500, 0-60mph = 5.7 sec

The BMW company specs on a stock 4.8is are 355 hp (crankshaft), 0-60mph = 5.9 sec.
I would imagine the CAI, exhausts, and throttle body have shaved 1 to 2 tenths off your stock 5.9 time.

There JSears ! Do you feel better now?;)

YES! I do feel better now! Bring on the Cayenne S! Don't know if I want to battle a GTS just yet!

LOL, I just read 25 or so posts about this 300 rwhp X5, wondering how anybody got that off the printout that clearly showed 274 hp, but you beat me to it.

For an AWD vehicle, do they have two sets of dyno rollers measuring at the same time?

There was a front set and a rear set of rollers. How it measures the power output of the car? No idea! :dunno:

I believe you can hang with a manual GTS...the tiptronic is on par with a 4.6iS. A stock post face-lift 4.4i can easily match the current Pepper S.

I guess I could go dyno my completely stock 2004 4.8is w/ 60kmi and see what numbers it cranks out unless there's a difference in the years from 04 to 06. If it's a lot less then maybe I'll start investing into some performance parts! I don't know if it would be Dinan products since I could only see that getting too spendy real quick.
