I stopped by the shop yesterday to check out my ride and things are coming along nicely. Everything is painted and they're starting to put everything together. One half of the new exhaust system is having to be shipped from Germany but the rest of the parts should have showed up yesterday afternoon. I got to start it up without exhaust on it and was surprised at the throttle response. It seemed to rev up incredibly quick which made me think about revisiting a less restrictive secondary exhaust outlet. Has anyone done it? Are there pics and performance gains documented from this.

Good to see
1/ You avoided a potentially much worse accident with quick thinking
2/ You and nobody else were not injured
3/ You were fully insured
4/ That the soon to be infamous E53 X5 stood toe to toe with yet another heavyweight........................and belted him

GL with repairs

I'm getting a new hatch, tailgate and bumper with new internals and the rims are going to be repaired and powdercoated Ash Grey. As for getting a new vehicle, Not a chance!!! I love this thing. The company I'm contracted with Stimline Services Inc - Oilfield Equipment Manufacturing and Service, Custom Fabrication, Construction Service and Upgrades has become the Canadian Distributor for FLIR thermal night vision FLIR Systems | Night Vision, Infrared Cameras, Thermal Imaging through NAV-TV and I need the write-offs so I don't have to pay tax. This vehicle is becoming a show vehicle/marketing tool. The adaptors to be able to run 2 video outs to my NAV screen will be supplied by NAV-TV (NAV-TV) who is also the distributor for Ulta Speakers (http://ultrasubs.com/ ) I'm going to outfit my ride with those also. From the spec sheets, the air space needed for the subs is incredibly low in comparison to other competitive brands.

I'll take pics when it comes back but it will be better then ever.

We're going to go with a brand new factory 4.6L exhaust because I want the oval tips that are welded on the muffler itself.

Glad to see that your okay and great thinking ahead dude.... ANY CAR can be repaired due to body damage.... its all about how much the company is willing to let out.

Good luck and I cant wait til I see those new pics of the X man :)

if a big truck and a blazer (case of askhao) are getting way more damage than the X5, I am wondering what would happen to some japanese or korean car if an X5 hits it:
a) The X will step over it and get down from the other side like nothing happened (with the driver thinking that he went over a speed bump)
b) it will break it in two and go through it (with the driver asking: what was that sound?)
c) The Korean car will stick like a dead bug on the X5 bumper with the driver wondering why is this truck feeling heavier today...

What a tank indeed... a Panzer ;)

I was talking to another guy about having a not so restrictive exhaust system and he mentioned the potential for burning the valves. Has anyone heard of this?

After 2 months in the shop, I've got my baby back and it's better then ever. Brand new 4.6L exhaust, new rear end. Everything works; I'm happy!
Now for the mods. I picked up a Dice DSP kit, the Dice interface for Ipod, the Nav-TV BMWV+ for running 2 video in (FLIR camera and IPod)and the NAV-TV Vehicle Dock. I'm having a bitch of a time getting sound and Ipod menu on my screen. Movies or video seem to play but not the base menu. I've removed the CD changer and it's becoming a nightmare as to how this is all going to hook up and work properly. No one really seems to know though they all talk about it like it's a simple plug and play setup. If you have any ideas, please help.
