To those who've had V1's for a while, correct me if I'm wrong, but I'm assuming that laser warnings are somewhat useless anyway... sorta like a 'you're busted!' alarm. Unless you're lucky enough to get an alert from some stray reflection off a neighboring target, I can't imagine the laser detector doing any good :dunno:

You exactly right. The laser units used by Police( most commonly the LTI 20-20) emits a very narrow beam of high intensity light generated by 3 laser diodes and are focused through apertures which are optical focusing devices used to collimate laser energy into a narrow beam. This beam runs at a wavelength of approx. 900nm. The amount of diffraction of the laser beam is almost nothing in dry air. In moist air the beam may become slightly diffracted due to water droplets in the air. In either case the diffraction is practically negligable. The only chance your V1 has of picking up stray light is if that light were reflected from a mirrored surface DIRECTLY into the front of your car. This is a highly unlikely scenerio. Since the beam really does not diffract and it does not reflect well from painted surfaces your chances of "detecting" the laser in an early warning sort of way are slim. 99.999% of the time if your V1 gives you an authentic laser warning, its because a cop has your car targeted in his laser sighting system and he is reading your speed at the same time your V1 is warning you. Prepared to be pulled over in most cases.

Anyone else have comfort glass and a v1? The only place to put the unit is at the very bottom behind the windshield wiper and the rear sensor is blocked by the rear seats. I'm wondering how much loss of signal as a result of the bad location.
