Really? I guessed I've been lucky. My Axxis Deluxe Advanced pads have been very quiet, even more so than OEM. My OEM pads would squeal every so often, but the Axxis haven't made a sound thus far (had it for about 6k miles and counting). I'm liking the Axxis pads more and more since it hardly shows any brake dust even after about 1 month of driving without a wash!

None of the vehicles that come through have axis though, they all seem to try duralast gold pads which sound so horrible you think they put the pads in backwards. But that's when they try to do their own brake job via autozone, pepboys or the like... Not all drivers are enthusiast or know how to use the internet for research.

I put on duralast pads from autozone myself and mine are great... no noise at all and the brake dust is nil. I guess it just comes down to knowing how to put them in ?

Weasel 09-28-2009 12:57 PM

Yeah, the ones that sound so horrible have had the rotors turned at autozone, and turned to under specs at that...

I was anxious to put them in, so I did not turn the rotors.
So NEW pads and not so new rotors = squeal.

The next weekend I put some "disc quiet" behind the rear pads and that reduced the noise to a scalded pig with a pillowcase over his head at the back of the barn. (very acceptable). I did not put the disc quiet on the front pads.

If you don't turn the rotors after new pads, you will get noise.

I really don't have a measurable way to discern the performance difference. They both feel the same to me the way I drive. I did not buy el cheapo pads, so I expect equal or better performance than stock.
(I bought Rotex GOLD, not Rotex 'tin' :D )

Some people may say they can tell, but unless you drive on the track and experience brake fade, and have some seriously crappy pads, you should not notice much difference between decent brand pads..

rotors at the stealership are like 150 a piece. DAMN. what are some good rotors you can find online? (not brembo bc everywhere i look, theyre out of stock)

autohaus.com

It's actually www.autohausaz.com. They're giving free shipping for purchase over $50, which is very good since it'll cost you an arm and a leg to ship those heavy rotors.

Crevier BMW quoted me $111 for front rotor and $62 for the rear earlier during the year when I was doing my brakes. $150 sure sound steep. Have you tried other dealers, like Morristown, who usually have very good prices.

:iagree: AutoHausAZ all day long...screw the stealership.

I did the rear brake job with Centric rotors and Axxis deluxe pad from Zeckhausen Racing. Have had no problems with that set up. The front need done so I am going to go with the Centric rotors again and the Axxis Pads again.

This time though I am buying the rotors from ROCKAUTO.COM because they are $30 cheaper per rotor!! I may see if Zeckhausen will match that price because it was nice dealing with them. BUT SAVING $60 is alot.
