There are several threads here that talk about that at length just do a search.

After I replaced mine, it solved the problem. Good Luck!

No, not related to FSR... its a BMW thing...

OK, I would like to hear if anyone else has the problem I do. Keep in mind I use only one key. If I get in the car and change the settings and then stop somewhere along the way, when I get back in the climate control reverts back to where it was when I got in the car earlier, so I have to change everything back to what I had it set at when I got out of the car. But it doesn't do this all of the time - I just haven't figured out a pattern of when it does it and when it doesn't.

okay i thought i was the only one....its not the actual fan turning on. I took out the ac module froimn the dash., theres a little fan that stays on all the time inside the unit. even when the car is off...why? will it drain my battery?

I think i have noticed that too! I just dont know if i lock the doors to save the last settings. Do you lock your X5 up and then come back? The remote (fob) has a memory and the key (once in the igntion) has a memory too. If i make since...lol If you set your controls and then get out of it, lock it and then come back later it should keep the last setting.

I dont mind the climite control coming on during winter but do not like it in the summer, i never use AC...only a couple of time during the summer to get it running or if my wife gets pissed because she is hot...lol

No, you're not reading it correctly. FSR problems are like if the fan speed is set to low, yet the blower is still going full blast or jumping up and down in speed. The OP is talking about if he shuts the blower off, gets out and then when he restarts the fan is back on again instead of staying off. Unfortunately, as killcrap mentioned, the stealerships can change this w/ the key programming, but they'll charge you for doing so. IF you so decide to get it done, get the entire list of programming options and get everything done at once...I still want individuals keys programmed for seat memory.
