David, i always like your wise words, but in this can, i have to disagree. not any shop will fix it right. i agree, that it is soooo easy they SHOULD, but alas we are dealing with humans.

OP, if you can't find a good shop, atleast go to costco, they will stand behind what they do.

" I didn't say any tire joint"... maybe the OP was toying, or...

Even here in low tech HillbillyHeaven, where there are a dozen plus shops in a town
of 10,000 all of the joints can & will do a proper interior patch job...
Enough for me on this topic.

anerbe, they put some black thick strings from out to in... i kept loosing the air pressure, so after i sprayed on that pached spot, i was able to see the air coming out slowly, but constantly...

A plug that is inserted from the outside (from out to in) without dismounting the tire is a temporary repair, and should be replaced when you get to a proper tire shop. The safe patch is called an inside patch, and is applied to the inside of the tire after the tire is dismounted. The best patch is a combination of plug and inside patch, that looks like a mushroom, with the cap being the patch and the stem being pulled through from the inside to the outside, to fill the hole.

Not surprising that it is leaking if they just put a quick plug in from the outside. Just get it properly repaired and then get the wheel balanced again when the tire is remounted.

No, it will come out with a tire repair tool that is essentially a serated awl. Mention to the shop that you want an inside patch, preferably a combination plug/patch, but not just a plug.

The multiple posts above were because you referred to a patch in your first post, when in fact you appear not to have had a patch at all. No harm, good luck.

Just came back from sams club car repair. Said removing willcreate a bigger hole. Anyway says can't do it... Wtf???

is sams club the original place of repair? if not, go back to the original place. if you paid to get it fixed, then tell them to do it right.

like it's been posted, an inside patch is around $20. Unless they created a bigger hole putting the plug in, they should be able to patch it.

Lots of tire places don't want the liability of fixing a tire. I guess we can thank a lawyer somewhere :-)
