Patched Tire
I will have to replace the tire, unfortunately. Guys! All the tires still have good milages left, what do you think about replacing one tire or do I have to replace all of them as it's AWD? OR... try repatching again??? |

If you have good tread, I would take in for a patch. Either the first patch is leaking or you have another leak. Around here that's $20.

we checked and it was leaking from the first patch... and yes, the tread still good...
it can be repatched? |

The correct way to patch is from the inside of the tire - the old way of pushing a cord through the tread to plug the hole is not recommended by tire manufacturers today - especially for high or higher end tires. It's worth having a tire shop check and repatch to see if the tire still leaks.

I agree with the re-patch gang above...re-do the interior patch and then
see what happens when the dust settles. GL,mD

get the patch that goes from the inside with plug attached to it. not just a patch...
if you have Kal-tire stores down there, go to them. |

Another quick fix is to get a can of motor cycle leak fixer... its a kind of slime or foam that you pump into the tyre and it then blocks the hole when it is vented out the leak. If your leak is small this should kill it no problem...

I'm not a fan of the slime / goo stuff, but if the patch is done proper on the inside of the tire, it shouldn't be a problem. I'm not a fan of plugs but they will usually get you home in a pinch.

did they unmount/apply patch inside/remount and rebalance? If not, tell them to do it right...
