All of my Bimmers have developed cracks over time except my Graphite trim on my E39. I am going to swap to Graphite on my E53 most likely. Or maybe something rare like a Inlayed BMW individual trim option from the other side of the pond. I saw some sweet options at an E38 Meet in Germany a few years back.

So if you didn't get the wood trim, but have black trim, you will not experience cracks in the trim?

I did the same... it's an easy vinyl wrap. Well, I say easy... but it does take a good 6 hours or so to do all the pieces if you want it done right. I'll see if I can find some pics... here you go. I started wrapping my new X5 (did my whole 4.4i in carbon) in carbon but didn't like the lack of contrast on the black sections of the dash and doors. So I just ordered some more vinyl in a silver carbon fiber.

Cracked trim is super common... and here in south Texas is almost guaranteed for any used BMW.

Care to link the vinyl you purchased? Was the central console too difficult? Heat gun needed?

Nice two tone trim. My old X5 was blue with a tan interior, I'd bought a black interior from a wrecked X5, but then sold the car before I ever did the swap. The tan and black mix does look good together.

Interesting. How do you attach the vinyl to the panels? Spray adhesive? Contact cement? Was it necessary to sand the cracks down flat or is the vinyl thick enough to hide the issues with the surface once it cracks?

My door panel wood trim is all cracked-up. I've thought of this but was thinking about perhaps trying to match the silver color rather than carbon fiber (although it does look very nice!)

I agree. I was worried the creme beige would be too light... but both the wife and I love it now.

They have an adhesive backing. No need to sand down the cracks unless your cracks are exceptionally deep. They make this stuff in all different colors... even wood grains and metal effects. I did charcoal brushed aluminum in the wife's X3 and she loves it. Will post a pic of that below.

Thanks, it takes awhile but changes the whole look of the interior. You will definitely want a heat gun. A hair dryer might do the trick but I've never tried with one. And the center console is by far the hardest part. Not too bad, but if you are the type of person who does not have patience... it will be rough going. I use that seller exclusively because I have used his vinyl many many times and been happy. The 3M stuff linked above is nice as well. BTW nice wrap job BMW... looks great. I had one crease on my center console I couldn't get out, not visible right there at that point by where the seat is. It looks like you got yours almost perfect. Did you cut a slit and overlap? Or did you heat and stretch? It looks like you overlapped in the pic...
