DIY...How to make your own mesh grilles.

First of all ...I need to change my screen name from MRBMWX5 to MR-DIY.
This DIY is showing you how to make your own mesh grilles for your X5's or any BMW's grilles need....

No pic on the car yet... waiting for the paint shop to mix my paint so i can paint them to match the car color.

Here are some quick pictures of it how the step goes...
Hope you like it.

time... 1 hour.
Cost... $ 30.00
You need one roll of 12x24 mesh net ... it can befound at home depot ( I love home depot):D
Using your original grilles and cut off all the slops.Using dremel drill and cut off wheel disc.

This DIY can save you about $200-$350 for a set of custom mesh grilles.

I will show you how to open your hood after the grilles are install.

Stay tune...

X5JR? Lowe's chicken wire looks cheap, so I'm going to have to to agree w/ LightWerkz.

:wow:
You need to start your own busines of this kind of stuff(probably already have). ;)
You can make lot of money selling on Escalade forums.

The chicken wire mesh looks nothing like the Escalade one you posted. That Escalade grill is WAY thicker, larger holes, etc. The chicken wire is flimsy and will bent w/ the slightest push, hence why it was so easy for him to form....keeping it that way is a whole different story.

Good DIY and very useful for anyone who wants to do this mod but personally I think it was and unfortunate choice of mesh when there are so many others options available.
With some Audi RS4 mesh may look good as can be seen on the photo here of a friends car..which I fitted myself.

I think I have seen a pic on this forum with quality mesh used for mod , but good for you for showing how to do it .
maybe I`ll try something when I get finished modding my house , only been at it 4 years so far , getting there , all that`s stopping me selling the shit X5 for a porsche .

i'm not going to make any judgements on how it looks until i see them on the car.

people on this forum are way too quick to judge!
