After 10 years, it will only be worth about $1k to $2k difference in price whether it's got 100k, or 200k miles on it. I don't know about you, but for that $2k difference in depreciation, I would rather get that extra 100k miles of usage out of my vehicle (best bang for the buck, IMHO).

It's a car, drive it when you need to drive it and forget about resale value on these things!

:iagree: A lot of ppl think x5's is like one of the exotic cars... To me it's my daily pick up truck
BTW congrats DOC on your 200k miles ... I'm at 160k.

:iagree: In the beginning I wanted to keep the miles off to, now it's a point of pride to see how long of a life I can get before she completely dies.

:iagree: I am just waiting for her to die, but it's fun to see how long she can go.

I'm with dkl, et al...it's a cool car, but a rapidly depreciating thing, and while our
'01 only has ~76k miles, I don't plan on replacing it anytime soon.

If it starts to cost me a $G or so a year, (which it has not, other than new tires
last fall), I will probably still run it for awhile. New Xs are off of my chart, and the
CEO is next in line for a new car, anyway.

Drive the sumbitch, enjoy it, and do what is best for ya'll.
Congrats again to DocKewl, mrbmwx5, and especially Wally, for his
seriousazz mileage!
