ditto that.. Stock, they are slow... my old B5 S4 with K04 upgrades, downpipes, forge divertors, race cats, GIAC X-chip, and injectors was pretty fast though and ran mid 12 sec 1/4 miles..

K04's are a key upgrade. A lot of the B5 S4's, stock, were prone to failing turbos. Add a chip to the mix and say bye bye not to the X5, but to the turbos.

SANguru's set-up sounds pretty solid. How many psi was yours boosted?

hah you have to understand i am also from the states, where any type of racing is considered basically, KILLING YOURSELF (besides if its on the track)... not saying its safe, but then again on an open road like you say, its okay to do in my opinion, and nor would i ever speed in a residential zone so thats outta the question.

But then again in my opinion, the drivers in Europe are much much MUCH better drivers then people in the states, NOT EVEN GOING TO START ON WA DRIVERS!! I HATE EM!

that's not true.. I knew a lot of people running GIAC xchips boosting about a bar with no problems on the turbos. The divertor valves on the other hand were known to not hold boost and also notorious for failing. Bear in mind what you read on the internet is only a small population.. Most of the turbo failures were due to idiots not cooling down the turbos before turning off the motor and not running turbo timers.

Yea, I could see a lotta people not cooling down the turbos...lazy bastards :tsk: . I remember before we landed on the X5, we also considered a 330i and a 530i. Along with that came the B5 S4. My god, that thing was fantastic! The steering was perfectly weighted, and the thing was just glued to the road :wow: !

Not true. I ran my Chipped S4 for 50K miles before turning it in on STOCK turbos.
