2004 X5
70K miles
16.2mpg since purchase (the computer shows 16.9 but it is not fully accurate)
Gas hog in the city
Better in the highway
I can get 20mpg on highway without heavy foot
City is really low, 13-14 tops (with stop and go traffic etc)

Unless you drive a diesel.

my 18s give me 16mpg combined city/hwy on an '06 3.0

Wheel size is not a significant factor in fuel economy. Perhaps marginally more aero drag with wider tyres...

Your question to that previous poster: he may or may not come around again to respond... "heavy foot" is a term for one keeping their right foot on the gas pedal firmly, that is, using a 'heavy foot' to mash the gas most of the time, while driving.
Good Luck, mD

2004 4.4 with 110k miles. OBC reads 16.8mpg

Naz24 11-24-2011 12:06 PM

Yikes. My read out of 15.0 and 15.1 on my obc looks terrible. 2004 4.4i

Then again, I drive around campus up hills, and 3 hour drives back to nj.. At no lower than 80mph. Thatll do it

2005 4.4 Sport (driven like I stole it)
15 City
21 Highway

From what I'm seeing the 3.0 doesn't get any better mileage yet gives up significantly in the power dept.

roym01 11-24-2011 02:55 PM

I get over 600 kilo's on a tank (2005 4.4), combined city/hwy. My buddies 2006 3.0 has never gotten more than 550.

I was told long before I started searching for my 2005 that the 8 gets better mileage than the 6. Should be no surprise.
