Maybe they're flashing from some weird alarm problem? The alarm system is the only thing that I can think of that can activate the flashers with no internal signs of it...

Speaking of flashers for the alarm...is the flashers supposed to blink an extra time when it has been tripped? I distinctly remember that my blinker flashed 3 times (one more than normal) the other night when I went to unlock the car. Can someone help explain that?

Yep, that's a pretty standard operation for most if not all alarm systems.
