Good Morning. I recently joined this forum and wanted to introduce myself. I recently acquired a 2001 X5 4.4L with cold weather and premuim package. The last 5 of the vin is LH25105. It is gold exterior (I'll get the real color code later) with tan leather and Birdseye maple interior. No Nav though. It has 100K miles and a great service history. Minor maint items will be done soon.

I am a long time BMW owner and DIYr. I have owned and personally maintained from I6 (Z3, 330Ci) to V8 (540i, 840Ci) to V12 (850i, 860i - Custom Stroker)).

Looking forward to learning from this board. I am good with the M62 engines but looking forward to learning more about the X5 suspension and electronics.

Thank you.

Looks great for a 100k miles car....

So what are the DIY projects you planned?

Thanks for the welcome and complement Bulls.

The car was a 1 owner car with the extended maint contract. Thus the car was in such a great shape.

The DIY stuff I am interested to begin with is to replace the common wear items. There are things I am familiar with, such as Oil Change, Brake pads replacement, Caliper cleanup (possible paint), Transmission fluid replacement, etc. And there are things new to me for the X, such as ABS Pulse Sensor, Steering Angle Sensor,Adding a CD changer or possibly replacing the headunit with a Factory NAV, etc.

I have a Peake Diagnostic tool that I used on my older BMWs, but it seems that like my Z3 and the 330 this does not have the round service port.

I made my own AB03 adapter so that I can still use my Peake tools on newer BMW's, cost me about $10 in parts. I made a thread on here if you're interested in making it.

Thanks James. I was actually looking at your post. Have you found the link to the female part of the Peake reader to plug into?

Thanks. And yes she did. She purchased it new at the dealer with extended warranty and Maint contract (72 mo / 100K miles). Has service record at the BMW dealer where I bought it from. She traded it in for the new X5 3.5D. It is super clean.
