Rear fogs activated at last

After much anguish and a failed attempt on my old 02 X5 I have finally re-trofitted factory rear fog lights on my new 05 X.
Thank you very much to the help I recieved from many e-mails back and forth from Withidl and Jeff see post;

They work exactly as described, I need the lights to work for legal reasons when the car goes to the UK but cant understand why such a good safety feature is not fitted here in North America.BMW goes to great lenghts to not fit them because they fit a different light switch and leave the wires out of the harness, doesnt make much sense when they are manatory in most of the rest of the world, I know we dont get that much fog here in SoCal but when it does come it can be pretty pea soupy !!!!!.

I have tried to add some pic's not sure if its worked !!!!

Thanx guys,
reading this forum on a daily basis is bad for your 'wealth' it does give you mod fever.
After the fogs my list includes
Titanium grille set
20" 4.6 wheels and tires
Installing a sub in the rear.

Should keep me going for a while.

This is an awesome site thanx.

I am waiting til the wheels and grilles are fitted then will post some pic's.

I wish you had taken some pics during your install. The article is great, but some pics would be real helpful for that one.

If I attempt it myself, I will try to take the pics.

Nice mod, avonside!

NICE!! but all of those lights on the cluster make it look like a christmas tree lol!

Those lights are Titz! Like UCrew's...the way they should light up.
The brake lights on the X are pathetic, imo.
Nice stuff.

I will post all the part numbers for those that are interested, it was not that difficult in the end, it just takes a bit of time to take things apart and re-fit everything.Just to let everyone know this will not work on a X5 built before 11/01.Because my old X was a 10/01 and using the instructions on the link from the home page it should have worked but after some investigation at the dealers it turned out that my LCM was dated 9/01 so would not work.
I am happy to write up a detailled description and could then PM it to anyone who wants it.

Steve
