X5 Release pressure
I have a 2002 X5 3.0 purchased it little over a year ago, yesterday i noticed that whenever I park the truck and within seconds after I turn off the engine I hear a pressure release sound...! not knowing where is it coming from or what is the cause. any idea ?

I have the same sound as well!! you shut the x off.....get out, shut the door and by the time you are walking in front of the X you hear a swooshing release of pressure......
no worries....I have had that sound for a very looong time...I am not concerned..... .........but if you spend the time and money to find out what it is...please let me/us know... Rich:thumbup: |
This is normal for 3.0i engines. You should be worried if its not making that sound after you shut off your engine.

Mine does it as well, and i've asked this question on the board before without an accurate answer. nothing to worry about.
Lebahawk? like in lebanese hawk? |
I agree with rear air suspension, though tough to diagnose without
any of us "being there"...I have '01 3.0, with rear air, and sometimes when parking on a crazy incline, (common at our Mtn house area), I hear a "sigh" from the rear. Maybe it's jes' a fart, ;>) GL, mD |
