"Brakes Needed" warning light here, no gone??
For a week or so I had the infamous "Brakes Needed" circle glowing on my dash, but got in the X earlier this week and it is no longer lit. Is this typical?? I have the intention to get them checked out this weekend, but was just curious if this light normally comes on and goes off before having the brakes done.

I thought once the plastic wore off the sensor and the light came on, it stayed on? :dunno:

If by "Brakes Needed" you mean the brake pad warning light (which isn't the same as the brake fluid or brake system malfunction light) then it is a one-time sensor. If the sensor makes contact, it doesn't go back off, it latches on. If you had a bad (open) connection though, and not worn-out pads, then it go back off if the wire made contact again.

Yes, it was the "Brake Pad" light.
I am due for an oil change, so I will have the shop check them out just to be sure. |
those cables connections are terrible. behind the front drivers side wheel there are up to two sensors, one for the DCS and the other for the brake located inside a plastic box. (turn the wheel one way or another to get at them) clean it up, it could just be a loose connection. (even just unplugging and plugging it in will clean the connections. this was the case with my DSC sensor... also i think there is on on one of the back wheels. the brake wear sensor is a one time deal and no need to change when doing the brakes(unless of course you wore your brakes down to the point where you use the sensor.)
