I had been using the oe tires. and recently a month ago switched to RFT set of dueler HP sports for my 4.4i 19 inch sport pack. Actually it was my mistake since I did not know that they are runflats. However I do not feel so much difference from the OE I mean diamaris. a little bit more stiff but not so bad. I drove 1000 miles to come back to socal. if I keep 70miles per hours, mgp is ~22 and if I speed up to 100 mph, mpg downs to ~15. My wife is using the X5 and I believe it should be good for her since I do not think she can change tires on the road.:rofl:

I have a 2002 the owner before me had installed the Good year tripleedge and had lots of noise especially on the rear, found out the problem in the rear tires aren't wearing out evenly !... spoke to the dealer tech he mentioned that he seen this issue before on other x5. He recommended either Michelin MVX4 or Continental I end up going with the Continental option since cost little less and the review was excellent. So I chose the Continental Cross Contact LX sofar have over 20,000 Miles and the ride is superb not a bad investment.

Short update - got the Yokohama Avid ENVigors a couple of weeks ago.

Ok laugh but they look, small??

We had the first big rain in months and they handled Great! (as Tony the Tiger would say).

Noise is no worst than OEM Tires.

Today we did the NJTP/Parkway 1h 45m drive to visit the wife's family (to/back) avg 18.9 mpg which is better that the 16.?, I was getting.

Can't complain about the Yoko's.

Brief update on the Yokohama Avid ENVigors.
Like everyone else on the east coast, we've gotten a lot of snow.

Sorry to say the Yoko's were only OK in the snow/ice/slush. I believe the OEM Tires were better in that kind of stuff.

I love the MXV4s on my 2006 4.4i w/ sport package. I do a great deal of driving in light snow (1-3 inches) and wet roads. Tires are amazing. I honestly cant say enough about them.

^ I have the MXV4's as well. Have not had a chance to get them in the nasty stuff yet.

I am about to take off my Envigors after 23K miles. The wear on the tire's inside shoulders are at a dangerous point.

Overall I drove on the Envigors for 25 months and they were great tires (mostly dry conditions and some very heavy rains; no snow).

The only negative issue is the Envigors are directional tires. You can only rotate them on the same side front to rear back to front; never cross vehicle. This definitely impacted wear over time.

My last tires were Latitude Tour HPs. They wore well for 40k miles. Good feel and grip. Just not very firm in turns. I'd rate these more luxury then sport.

I am leaning towards the Bridgestone Alenza's from all my reading. If I get 40k+ miles, I will consider them a success.

Overall, the orig MXV4s were sloppy as they got older. I ran them for 45k miles. Their wet traction left something to be desired as they wore.
