Hello All: It's that time...new shoes for 2004 4.4 with 77,000. Considering Yokohama Avid ENVigors. Any experiences or opinions? Thanks. John

What have you tried so far?

No experience with the Yokahama's, but after spending the last month reading numerous reviews from Tire Rack and this forum, I decided to replace my worn Michelin Diamaris with Bridgestone Dueler HP's on my '06 4.4 w/ 20" rims. I couldn't be happier :D

No exp with that species of Yoko, though I have had good luck with Yoko Avids,
different style, on other cars, fwiw.

I put on Michey Diamaris last fall, and I think that specific tire is well past its
prime and does not deserve the rave reviews, from earlier in its life cycle.
Anything but Michey D's, imo.

That's an interesting point. Would you consider getting the OE E70 tires for the E53 in run flats?

Meister, If I understand your question correctly:
No, I don't need/want runflats: I have a spare on my '01 E53,
and dumped the RFTs on my Vette when the oe tires wore out.

I was sucked in by all the Michey D fans here...:rofl:

Ride is so-so, mpg on long trips dropped, they look like they are
designed to cup in about 10,000 miles, etc. The B'Stone Potenzas
that came with the BMW 132s, though panned, ran like a top for
35k+ miles.

Interesting info. Yeah you do understand me correctly. I'm curious if it would be a wise move for my next tire change to go with runflats, or would that be a completely stupid move given that the E53 suspension wasn't designed for such stiff tires (except for the security version which had some ultra rare Goodyear runflats (Goodyear Eagle RS-A * EMT (RSC))?

Did you dump your runflats on the Vette (nice btw) due to cost or performance?

My 132's came on Turanza's (is that what you mean) and while they are great in the dry, wet is pretty piss poor. They also tramline pretty badly and I'll get 25,000 on the rear and 50,000 on the fronts. I was hoping the Diamaris would be a nice upgrade, but now I'm not so sure since you got me thinking with the "well past its prime" remark, which has a good amount of truth to it when it comes to tires.

I have no need for RFTs, with my '01 E53 spare, regardless of what tire brand I
have/had, imo.

I have Sport on our '01: stiff enough and that added slightly stiffer sidewall may
exacerbate the ride.

I dumped the oe Goodyear Eagle RFTs that came on my '02 Vette, as they had
~33,000 miles on them, and I needed replacement for a trip. I considered both
RFT replacements and non-RFTs. I chose GY Eagle F1 non-RFTs partly due to
cost comparo and partly because I wanted to try non-RFTs on the Vette. The
downside of course, is I have a plug kit and mini-compressor for long trips.

Yes, I meant Turanzas; I loved mine. The MicheyDs are just ok, imo.

It's potluck buying tires, imo, and an expensive crap shoot, imo.
