Update : I was able to get the insurance company pay for the OEM tires and ordered style 168 , now i am looking for the tire to go along with it.
I searched a little and i think I like the following 1- Bridgestone Dueller Sport (ride comfort is better) 2- Yakohama Advan ST (closeset to Diamaris from what I know) Please let me know your thoughts, also would be great if anyone has pics with them installed, I have a feeling the X might not look good with the Bridgestone's. Thanks all for your help |
did a bit more search here and found out that the new X5M came with the Bridgestone Dueller Sport ...(:-))
So i guess am just going to search a little more for pics with bridgestone and yakohama, still leaning toward Bridgestone Dueller Sport. |
Update :
Got the X back from Dealership, Insurance paid for pretty much everything except the alignment and did'nt match up to the labor rates of BMW, there was some under carriage damage but it drives nice and i do not see any issues so far, i was without my X for allmost 3 weeks and was amazing to drive it again...atleast i got new set of wheels and tires now ;-) |
do you have the alignment printout? what under carriage damage was there
|
No i do not, but i will call the dealership and check with them, undercarriage damage was minimal , 4 plastic covers and no damage to suspension or brakes, since Insurance was paying for it i went ahead and replaced all 4 of them, i am saving all paper work as usual.
|
Also I was surprised to see the undercarriage of the 4.8is, it's pretty flat like a car almost as if to make sure the air flows nice and evenly at high speeds and with panels covering all of the hydraulic and electrical lines, should really think of it as a high sports sedan than a truck ;-)

Sorry to read this mate, but glad you've got it sorted.
Make sure you now have locking wheel bolts. These are mainly standard fitment over here (perhaps we have a riskier society?????:dunno:) They are not infallible but will give an extra deterent to the opportunist. As does wiring your door handles to a big capacitor!! allegedly? |
What tires did you go with in the end and how much were they?
|
i went with Bridgestone Dueller Sport and they came out to be $1085

I've put the wheel locks on as their not that expensive and might help, but I hear they don't do much for you. Here in the U.S. for $25, on sale, I can go to a quite popular, large chain store's auto department and buy a set of special sockets which are made to remove badly-rounded lug nuts. I haven't tried them, but I suspect they would make quick work of locking lug bolts. |
