What I would do is startup and drive under 30 miles for couple mins by then the car idle is drop to normal around 500-800rpm. Then let the beast on lose... Pedal to metal.

Why not start it up, go shower and get ready... when you're done, the car is ready to roll... :D

start it up, wait 30 seconds, and go. The beast warms up faster when you're driving it, just take it easy for a little while before it gets completely warmed up.

I think you're kidding. Regardless, that's be horrible because newer engines don't maintain high rpm at cold idle. The rpm drops in about 30secs, so you'd have severly insuffucient oil flow just sitting there. For this reason until the engine is warmed up, if i am forced to be standing still (ie. traffic signals), I put it in neutral so that the engine isn't under load when its still cold.
