LED TAIL LIGHT CAPACITOR FROM LOCAL ELECTRONICS SHOP
 

Hi all,

Just want to share with all the members here all you need to have led tail lights is 6800UF 25V Capacitor one on each side will do the trick.

i bought from Lightwerkz for $ 40 US not Canadian even it was only 20cents Difference in US and CAN. Costumer service is more impotent then 20 cents, he declined my payment from pay pal he said it is in Canadian dollars not in US, he may be the great guy when installing lights but when it comes to customer service............i don't know, many members here will chime in to say he is the best but i will say he can rip off international customers for sure but only once. The CAPACITORS are only $2.49 both in Calgary and even cheaper in US.

many members here didn't want to share this CAPACITOR thing in tail lights shame on you guys not to share this but enjoy this while you at it all NEG feedback will be accepted i don't take anything personal and will not reply any unnecessary post. Share your thoughts.

how to

• Set of pliers
• 5 minutes of your time

• Use provided red wire tap-in connectors; clamp one on the green wire, and the other on either of the two black wires. This is on the aftermarket wiring side, not on the OEM wiring. We do not want to modify that!
• Plug in the red side of the capacitor to the green wire, and then the black side of the capacitor to the black wire.
• Zip tie the capacitor neatly to the rest of the wiring.
• Go enjoy your new Led tails!

Bravo Sarb! It is about time someone posted this info with some actual details, and photos no less! I have been hunting for this for a while. It is great timing as my new LED tails got here today, so off I go to Radio Shack as it's the only place open late. Should have those suckers lit up in no time now thanks to you.

Well I would be enjoying them 'cept Radio Shack doesn't have the right cap's. So they will have to wait till tomorrow when I can go to a real electronics store...

Nice write up Sarb, I'll be installing a set of the latest Depo Halo headlights and I also want LED front corners. I may install some switchback LEDs, I searched the forum but came up empty, seems nobody is using them on this site. I have them in the front corner lights on my 1999 C5 Corvette, they are a wildly popular upgrade on the Corvette.

Hey Sarb, do the capacitors get hot like the load resistors?

ok.. so i bought a set of LED tail from ebay... and i got the capacitors as specified... did the hook up... the black end of the cap goes to one of the black wire...the other end of the cap goes on the green wire.... and ... I am still seeing a pulsing in the lights that goes with the idling.

what now?

Correct me if I'm wrong but couldn't you just use an ohm meter or digital multimeter to find the impendance the of the stock bulb to get an ohm measurement and find the right resistors??? The main goal is to trick the computer into thinking there is a good bulb in the circuit right???

Just a peice of advice. Don't wire the cap the wrong way around. They will explode and give off a nasty gas
