'05 MID Pixel Repair Success
Have '05 CPO'd X5 and MID pixels went south. BMW would not cover so I tried to fix myself to no avail. Sent it to nice folks at vdorepair.com and forgot exact price but they were running a sale and it cost me about $150. Pleasure to deal with, repaired my unit, and got it back in 5 days. Highly recommended!

I've heard really good things about VDO Repair, I'm glad you are back in business!

Good stuff! Hope you keep us updated as to how many years/months go by before additional/repeat repairs are needed, if at all.
Recommendation for the DIY'ers... use a dremel with the small drill attachment to drill your four "screw access" holes. Very stable and precise. I followed this method: http://www.bimmerboard.com/forums/posts/543597 and I think that the additional thick paper "backing" that I added behind the rubber pieces might hold out for a few years, but may not be permanent unfortunately. |
I successfully fixed mine myself. I'll do it for free, less shipping ;)

can you tell us how you did it?
