Hi Wallyx5,

Replace blower and put back everything are fine but when I turn the heater/ac to high or defrost, it make loud noise, like vibrate noise from the blower motor fan. The part is #64118385558, bmw dealer give me the part #. Please let me know what to do next. If I turn to about 4-5 knot, it fine.

P.S. take me and friend of mine approximately 4 hours to remove and put it back.

Thanks,
Henry

Oh man that's horrible. As long as you put everything back and bolted down the blower motor I have no suggestions. Since you said you get a vibration or noise at higher speed I would think there is something wrong with the blower motor itself. Mine did not make any noises after I replaces it.

Wallyx5,
I redo the blower motor again and take me about 2.5 hrs for the second time and replace the new blower motor and this time did not make any vibrate noise. Guess bad luck for new blower motor to be bad.

Thanks,
Henry

Great news, I get to do this damn job again. The blower motor is dead again...... Why do I keep this truck? Guess I am glutting for punishment. I will give it ago this weekend.

Did the same thing to get to AC parts. None of it is hard, just tedious. There is one bolt on the steering column that has to be drilled out. Thought I would be tricky and replace it with an allen cap head screw so I wouldn't have to drill it if there was a next time, but that interferes with the steering column motor, so you need the &!$& special bolt with the snap-off head... Much easier with a helper to lift the big pieces out. Laid everything out on movers blankets so it didn't get dirty or scratched on the floor of the garage. You should plan on 4 hours in and 4 hours out for the very first time.

A very strong +1 on the tedium of this task!

While I never encountered needing to drill anything on my '06 X5 E53 N62 Engine, other E53 versions may require this step.

Another very strong +1 on the timeframe for this task if you are going solo. The labor obviously will be cut in half if two blokes have at it. Could PROBABLY be done in 2 h with electric screwdrivers and wrenches--but that requires going into knowing exactly what the hell you're doing.
