Well, the new baby still sits in the shop. Checked the hoses as described above and they are perfect. Fixed the transfer case "Classification Resistor" problem and that did nothing. Computer and a scope showed nothing while driving. The engine is purring like a kitten. Two different mechanics say it is driveline related. Checking with a transmission specialist in the next couple days.

No but I bought it several thousand below wholesale so if I have to put a couple grand into it, I'm still ahead.

My biggest fear is not being able to find the problem until it strands my daughter on the side of the road at 2AM on a rainy night in the middle of nowhere. Second biggest fear is not being able to find the problem until it grenades and causes many $ of collateral damage.

My wife's 06 4.4 has 122,000 miles. About 2 weeks ago we took it to the dealer because of the exact same thing. At about 38 mph steady throttle it felt like the trans was slipping for a second about every 10 seconds, or perhaps could be thought as an engine surge, miss or whatever.

The dealer said it was a simple software problem and I think he said they had to clear a code or something. Anyway, they fixed it for 1 hour labor.

PLEASE tell me more! That is the exact same symptom. We checked and there are no codes in the engine, trans or tranfer case. Can you give me the details of what the dealer did?

I would really appreciate it.
Thanks,
Greg

I went to the dealer today to have them check for codes. Cost me $126 just to hear, "No codes" So, i'm still scratching my head.
