CLEARED TRANSFER CASE ADAPTATIONS

DROVE 2 CYCLES 15 MILES PROBLEM CORRECTED

So far so good, about 400 miles.

Hope this helps!

I have a difficult time believing the adaptations were the problem. The same goes for most software updates. I'm sorry to say but, IMO, there's an underlying problem that won't be so easily fixed.

I printed out this entire thread and showed it to the BMW tech today. He said the same thing. No way no how.:( '

He told me that he thinks its the throtle its self. Our throtle is "fly by wire", and simular to a bad starter, it can have a "dead spot" in the throtle pedal stroke.

He continued tp say that This is the only time he has seen this type of stutter, misfire or surge, (what ever you wanna call it) WITHOUT throwing a code.

Not saying this is the issue, just sharing what I was told today.

And FYI the mechanic said to replace the entire throtle system, is about $700, Plus labor.

The dealer said it was a simple software problem and I think he said they had to clear a code or something. Anyway, they fixed it for 1 hour labor.

I experience similar very slight symptoms only with air con on and usually only when cruising .
have 3 cars do the same deal , 2002 X5 4.4i , 2004 X3 3.0i , 1997 740i .

That's funny you say that about the a/c. When the mech and I went on a test drive, I couldn't get it to do it right away. He flipped the a/c on, and shortly after I was able to get it to do it slightly. (not as bad as it usually does it) idk if they are related or just dumb luck.

sometimes they have a slight burp /hesitation when picking up the load , so to speak , when they start on an incline whilst cruising , again only with air con on .

There is no way BMW would let this be a "quark" of the machine. There is a fixable issue here.

Are "codes" synonymous with clearing adaptations?

No. Codes show up when a problem is found. I believe that adaptations, are adjustments made by the computer to better suit the conditions.

Someone correct me if I'm wrong.

I asked my wife again tonight if all is still well with the X5 and she said "great"

Just curious why adaptations couldn't be what my service tech did to fix the problem?

Has anyone else with this issue requested the service tech to clear them?

Sorry to hear that some of you guys are still searching for answers.

If there is anything else I can ask my service tech I will.
