Indy has quoted me around $600 for Inspection 2. $900 seems steep.

Bluedog - I have an '04 X5 3.0 and no one that I know would put my name and the words "mechanically inclined" in the same sentence together. However I was floored by various quotes for BMW Inspec I & II several years ago!

With a small investment in wheel ramps and a few tools, plus the GREAT DIY and forum support from this site, I was able to perform all of the fluid changes (oil, ATF, transfer case, coolant, steering) plus spark plugs myself, and reinvest the accumulated savings into better booze, field box tickets...you know, more important stuff.

I do use a BMW indy mechanic for repair work that requires a lift (or jack stands), such as exhaust, brake work, suspension troubles, etc. Everybody looks at the time vs money equation differently - whatever works best for you...Chef Kevin
