and plus, the elbow of this thing, it was hard to get it out, but, it was cracked with many holes, i thought it would be a great idea to replaced. plus, all the rings were installed "reversed"??:dunno: were there a better way to get it out?

Guys - does anyone know if this situation happens on the 4.4 engine. I have the same noise problem that is described for the 3.0. Sounds like birds chirping in the engine. But, when I press the gas, the chirping goes away. Release the gas pedal, chirping comes back.

Thanks to all who answer.

tomsayer,

my bird chirping goes away too, after certain rpm, only the low rpm has it, perhaps the engine sound masks the chirping sound:dunno:

did you try to change the part some member suggested?

tomsawyer 10-04-2011 04:26 PM

I haven't changed anything and that's my question to the members. The part that is referenced in the thread here is for the 3.0. Does anyone know if this part is also on the 4.4? If not, what should I be looking for on the 4.4i?

Thanks

How long after you installed it did it go out on you? A decent quality one should last awhile and hold up to all that heat every day.

Did anyone find there were associated computer codes?

It ended up being the intake elbow that cracked again as well as maf
Weather can play a part in the elbow cracking.
