Tire Question PLEASE READ
1 Attachment(s)
Hi Everyone,,
I have on the rear of my 06 X54.8is Michelin dimaris 315 35 R20 106w. They were put on at the beginning of this summer brand new and now the rears are Bald on the inside..of course my Camber may be a little extreme but these tires have not seen a lot of KMs (10000) tops......this wear seems extreme and replacement for two rears same make is $1100 plus tax and install.... Anyone have any suggestions, expeirences or reccommedations for a place to buy tires? |
a good alignment shop can change the rear camber. our 19 inch rear tires now wear 100% evenly across.
|
looks as though your X5 is lowered so the camber should be adjusted to suit ride height .
|
Ya they dropped it at the dealership via the airbags so your right a wheel alignment may be in order....that chewed my tires!

Toe in/out will wear tires faster (much) than neggy camber. So, the alignment should correct that. Also suggest regular front to back rotation.

My '06 4.8 has a staggered setup and you can't do a front to rear rotation if you have the same size factory wheels, unfortunately. I replaced my Michelins with Bridgestones and they have worked out great. The ride is a little smoother, and the overall performance is not any noticeably different. They cost half as much too. I got only about 16Kmi out of the Michelins, and the Bridgestones are probably going to last at least that long, or better from the looks of it so far.

Yep, good point. Rotating staggered wheels would look pretty funny and handle like poo... |
