Shit-Hydrolock?
Yesterday I was unable to start the X, because of what I assume is a dead battery. I have not yet jump started it.
After some reading I am afraid that this may be CCV related. How do I know if this is the battery, or if my engine is already screwed because of hydrolock? When I turned the key, it made the clicking nosies, and all electronics and indicators worked. After repeated attempts I drained the battery pretty much fully. Is there something I can check for before attempting to jump start, so that I may avoid further damage if it is the CCV? Advice please? |
For anyone who was interested:
I dodged the CCV bullet for now. A friend helped me jump start, it took a while because the battery was completely drained. Key is now dead. Friend probably had a good laugh regarding the German engineering that is BMW, while he sat in his Dodge. I had to jump start directly from the battery in the back because I was boxed in a parking space. I attempted the manual tailgate opening procedure. It did not work. I had to remove the tire, cover, etc from inside with the seats folded. What a bloody horrible design, thanks BMW. I drove for a good hour after jump starting to hopefully fully recharge the battery and burn off some moisture. Temp gauge still out of whack. |

Thanks for the response.
If it happens again, I may have to opt for a new battery. Frankly it is due for replacement, I am pretty sure its the original battery. |
Battery in the trunk is a great design! What other make can you jump from the front AND rear?
As for the electronic latch.. Not the best design but its industry standard it this point. |
The tailgate should have opened once you pulled the green wire, as described in the owner manual. It doesn't pop like the usual opening, it just needs a push from the inside.

hydrolock is when you have liquid in the combustion chambers.
