I called two different dealerships just to be sure. Both told me this is the updated version of the microfilter (old model with plastic frame is discontinued) which omits the plastic frame. Just slide the filter in place of the old one and you are done.
I just replaced mine. Despite being about 1" longer, the new one has a little play.

Just replaced mine today. The new filter is the same size as the old (not sure how you saw the new filter being 1" longer), just without the plastic frame as previously mentioned. It drops right in. However, the new filter design (made by 3M) does appear to be more flimsy in construction than the older design. Oh well...it's only a pollen filter, so it wouldn't be anything catastrophic if it ever fails :dunno: |
