Microfilter for the Climate Control

This is for a 2006 X5 4.8is. I bought the Microfilter from a BMW dealership. The new one doesn’t have the plastic frame and it is about 1” longer. :dunno:
I checked the part number (64319224085) on the box with realoem and it matches. Am I supposed to use the plastic frame from the old filter and cut the new filter to the right length???? Or is this a wrong part???? Anyone had a similar issue?
Thanks…

I did notice its frameless now... Even for the e39... Haven't tried it yet....

i would call up the bmw service dept and find out what is going on. they should just slide in with no modifications needed

Thank you everyone for your inputs.

I called two different dealerships just to be sure. Both told me this is the updated version of the microfilter (old model with plastic frame is discontinued) which omits the plastic frame. Just slide the filter in place of the old one and you are done.

I just replaced mine. Despite being about 1" longer, the new one has a little play.

Thanks again…..

Just open the hood and locate the compartment for it near the windshield. It has a black plastic cover/door, located in the top center of the fire wall area. You just pop it open and replace the filter. Takes only a few minutes.
