N62 4.4i recall
Just got this email:
Certain 2004 BMW X5 Vehicles with the N62 (4.4) Engine Dear Valued Customer, Our records indicate that your BMW may have an Open Recall to have the programming updated to the vehicles DME (Engine Control Unit) & EGS (Transmission Control Unit). If you have not done so already, please contact us to schedule to have this programming done at no cost to you. If you no longer own/lease a BMW, please contact us so that we may update our records. go for it. If your DME isn't updated then its good. My buddy had to get it done on his 05. Had starting problems. would crank and not start.

Sounds like the updated tranny software flash.

I got a new tranny 4 months ago. That probably won't apply. But the engine software will.

ok weird stuff, I called my usual dealer (Morristown) and asked them about this recall, they have zero record of any recall work needed on my car. When i called the dealership that sent me this letter, their response was that "although it wasnt on the BMWNA database, it still needed to be done" So i call my normal service advisor back and tell him tihs, he thinks that Roxbury BMW is just tyring to get me in there for service so they can find things wrong with my car and slam me with the bill.
Does anyone know about this recall i noted above? |

Naz, on the recommendation of widebody02, i'm getting my dme flashed with the update at my local indy. i've been having the cold start up issue and hope that this solves the issue. i'll report back in the thread i started.
