Transmission Problem?
Hey all. I have an 01 x5 4.4 and i'm getting this stutter from about 20 to 30 mph if i dont raise the rpms above 2k. Could this be a bad transmission sensor for 3rd gear or something? If so do i have to rip apart most of the trany to get to it? When i switched to sport mode i could'nt duplicate the stuttering. Any ideas would appreciated. Been trying to figure this out for weeks. Thanks!

Have a look: http://www.xoutpost.com/bmw-sav-foru...on-issues.html http://www.xoutpost.com/bmw-sav-foru...ssion-oil.html http://www.xoutpost.com/bmw-sav-foru...-question.html In my case it was the combination of fluid type and level being incorrect. Read my posts,it may be your case as well. Any question? chime here. |
Just changed my fluid and filter. Used mann filter and the oem fluid from bavauto. Perhaps the fluid level is wrong like you say. Followed a DIY from this site i believe. Just pumped fluid into fill hole until it started to run out the fill hole. Could it be the mann filter? Thought they were just as good as bmw's but maybe i'm wrong. Thanks for input!

That's why when draining/flushing trans fluid I suggest people to measure the amount you drain. for ZF 5-sp it should be about 5.5 quart at the min. |
Yes the fluid temp was about 85 degrees F. Just checked it again and fluid drizzles out the fill hole which i believe is the right level?

The BMW dealer here is trying to rob me of 165$ per hour to diagnose.
