Thirds on this. Final step of door card removal is to slide upwards so that clip comes off the metal piece on the door card and remains on the metal clip on the door itself. Then you can transfer it back to the door card before re-installation.
At least, that's how it's supposed to work... in theory. Sometimes the clips don't want to slide/disengage at all from the card and you just break them. Order some for planned door card removal, I got 3 for <$10.

Yep, very common. People either break them of forget them. But hey, we've all been there. After reinstalling my door card I realized I forgot to hook up the handle courtesy light. :( It's always my last step because the clear plastic on the handle that channels the LED, breaks if you just look at it wrong. :dunno:
