where did you get a remote started installed??

I have clifford 50.7x. I got it installed at car toys. It costs about 800 for everything, since they need a module to bypass the security and you lose a key that has a chip.

did you get your car fixed? how long have you had the started? do you also use it to lock/unlock? and the alarm? you're the 1st ive heard of a remote starter on an X5

For the most part, my car is good to go. I had to unplug the the fuse for the factory alarm because it kept going off. I was told I just needed to get it reseted

I have had my remote starter for almost a year now. I do use it to lock and unlock my car. The remote starter came with an alarm. Before having the issue with my factory alarm, when I used my remote starter to lock my car, it would also arm the factory alarm so I had the factory alarm light (red) and also the aftermarket one (blue) blinking. It was cool to see it at night.

I don't know about the newer years, but I have a 2002 BMW X5 3.0. The guys at car toys had an issue while doing the install but was able to find a way around it.

the hood has an alarm sensor switch fixed to the chassis .
stick a spacer on the switch piston or clamp it down and see if that solves the problem .

reset? havent heard of anyone having to do that. it always pissed me off that when i bought my X5 4.4 new in 02 for $62,000 i couldn't get a remote starter from anyone. my friends with their jeeps and chevys would remote start them and bust my stones. i'm going to have to look into it again. thanks
