NEED HELP ASAP!! Alarm keeps going off, car won't start.
Hey guys,
I'm having some serious trouble with my x5 now. I'll start form the beginning. I started a new project on my X5 and what I wanted to do was to install an aftermarket amp with subs. I wired my RCA and remote wire from the back of the x5 to the front with no problems at all. I then wired up my amp. I connected the power to the battery with no troubles at all. I connected the ground to one of the sides and realized it wasn't a strong connection, so I found another one that was being by the x5. The location of the ground is on the factory amp side behind one of the panels. So now, I went to wire the remote and everything seemed to go wrong at this point. I accidentally turn on my car with my automatic start right before this, so I know my car started before all of this. I was able to get the remote wire hooked up and my amp was turning on but I didn't get any sound from my speakers. I tried to start my car and nothing happened. The car wouldn't even turn over. My friend told me that I might have set off the immobilizer. Then something interesting happened. My car's alarm kept going off every couple mins. Right now, it seemed like the battery is dead so the alarm stopped going off but I don't have access to the battery since I can't unlock any of my doors. I need some major help guys! Sorry if the story is long and confusing. Please help! |
Just to put some more info into my situation. When I found out the speakers didn't work with my aftermarket stereo, I tried plugging in the OEM one and I pressed random buttons to get to a radio station to see if I can hear anything from through the speakers. I had no luck and decided to disconnect the factory stereo.

okay guys here's another update. I plugged in my battery charger to the car and the electronics in the car seemed like they were working for a while. Then it completely dies and goes back on. You guys think I just need a jump start?

Sounds like your battery is weak. Try giving it a good charge. Maybe replace it if it is not able to hold a charge anymore.

Hey jek889,
I haven't gave it a good charge yet but when I hooked it up to my battery charger the lighting became bright. When I tried starting it at that point, my alarm went off when I turned my key into the 2nd position in the ignition and didnt crank at all. So I'm assuming I need a better charger (since mine is old and was picked up at a flee market) or jump it with another suv. I was wondering why my alarm kept going off? |
Battery or alternator. Get both checked out pronto.. Have u put any led's on your x5?

Hey jst2878
I haven't put any LEDs in my x5. |
Okay we're good to go! Just needed a good jump start. Now I'm having the problem where every time I lock and unlock my X5, the alarm goes off. Any ideas?

you do know the key will unlock the driver's door then you can send one of your kids crawling to the cargo area. there is a little panel in the upper half of the cargo door that will maunally open the hatch. when your battery is weak it will set the alarm off, just the way the car is wired. it also shuts off non essential accessories when it's low. like the radio. charge it up and check it for a draw. maybe you crossed some wiring? or maybe just happens your battery died the same day?

Just an update on my situation. So jump starting the car fix most of the problems. The alarm still went off every time I lock and unlocked my car. Since I have a remote starter with an alarm, I just unplugged the fuse that went to the factory alarm for a temporary fix. I was told that I needed to reset something for the factory alarm. When I have time I plan on doing so. Thanks guys for all the help!
