My temp. gauge says it's overheating...

It was 26 degrees this morning on my way to work. After about 5 mins of driving i noticed my temperature gauge indicating that the car was overheating. the needle was pointed all the way to the right. Anyone ever experience this?

If i were you i would go to dealer ASAP or call them and make an appt ...i had this problem in my M3 and i ended up blowin a hose right off the rad in my parking garage.

I could be different things: a thermostat stucked closed, the water pump not doing its job of circulating water or just a stupid air bubble in the cooling circuit. Whatever the reason is you should not drive the car anymore until it is fixed. Get it towed to the garage.

Did you ever get this fixed? I'm seeing the same issue with my 2002 X5 3.0...

:tsk: my 2002 3.0 had done this about 3 times, it get stuck all the way up and i just turn the car off and back on and it goes back to normal,
i was thinking it could just be an eletronics problem ( a glich on the computer software ) and i notice that all the time it has happened i had turned the car on with the remote starter :tsk:

i`ll have to run this by the dealer just to play it safe ...

If the temp gauge turns back to normal right after you turn the car off and on again it is obviously not a real overheating problem.

yep; thermostat is bad, have it replaced....could save you more cash by also replacing the water pump if it has sprung a leak
cheers
