If i were you i would go to dealer ASAP or call them and make an appt ...i had this problem in my M3 and i ended up blowin a hose right off the rad in my parking garage.

I could be different things: a thermostat stucked closed, the water pump not doing its job of circulating water or just a stupid air bubble in the cooling circuit. Whatever the reason is you should not drive the car anymore until it is fixed. Get it towed to the garage.

my 2002 3.0 had done this about 3 times, it get stuck all the way up and i just turn the car off and back on and it goes back to normal,i was thinking it could just be an eletronics problem ( a glich on the computer software ) and i notice that all the time it has happened i had turned the car on with the remote starter i`ll have to run this by the dealer just to play it safe ... |

yep; thermostat is bad, have it replaced....could save you more cash by also replacing the water pump if it has sprung a leak
