The pipes look great . I was just wondering how huntertec managed to line the pipes up with the internal pipe in the back box . Or is there no internal pipe and the back box just packed with sound deadening material .

There are no pipes inside just sound deadening material and mesh screens and you only have to bore through the end one once the material is removed, if your considering doing it don't forget to send the left over tail pipes to BMW with a note saying not required thank you. My X is white as you can see, and stays cleaner after the mod.

Hi Huntertec, no change in performance, power and sound?

Thanks for that . There's a company over here asking for a demo vehicle to fit some too . But I was'nt sure they would be able to do that .

I didn't want to change the original exhaust system of the 3.0D because 1, I didn't want to mess up the current performance and power of the 3.0D since I'm very much contented with it. 2nd, the original exhaust end pipes are pointing downwards (were they should really be pointing when you have a diesel vehicle). I don't want spitting out black smoke directly on the faces of cars behind me!

Bought Exhaust Pipe Tips for the X5 Gas (4.4 or 4.6 or 4.8? I'm not sure sorry) and installed them on my 3.0D Diesel this way...

I'm sure the purists won't agree with what I've done and I respect that. I'm just so darn in love with those 2 shiny chrome tips protruding out that I had to really do it and get that look on my D! ;) Hope you get something out of this! Cheers!

Those tips look great. Where did you get them? I'd like a set for mine.....

Yes to all three questions, performance and power is up because of far less back pressure for the turbo to deal with remember its trying to extract the exhaust gasses as quickly as possible so the last thing it needs is restricted flow and BMW sure did a good job with that. With the sound at idle sounds much like a V8 and under acceleration I'm told it has a nice smooth note, if I regreted what I've done I would have changed it back to original but its over two years now and no regrets.
