I have gone through 2 sets of Michelin - Energy™ MXV4 Plus getting 50k out of the first and 65k out of the second. They were fine. I've always have even wear and no problems. Not counting nails and such from sloppy contractors.

I now have Yokahama Geolander's on it. They seem to be holding up well. I don't have any complaints about them. I know they grip the road great. Help me avoid T-Boning another motorist that failed to look for oncoming traffic before turning out into the motorway. Performance Brakes helped too, but I'm sure I left wrinkles in the pavement when the tires were clawing their way to a stop. I never have had to stop so quickly and in such a short distance ever in my life. ABS, performance brakes and reflexes were a big factor as well that day.

I had Yokahama Avid H4's on my '98 Jetta Wolfsburg and loved them so I wanted to try the brand on the X5. So far I'm pleased. I drive a variety of road types each day including Hard Dirt, Soft Dirt, Sand, Concrete and Asphalt. They were great on Snow and Ice too.

I do believe tire performance is based on the driver and how well the vehicle is maintained. I try to take very good care of the car and I'm an excellent driver. Defiantly an excellent driver. ;)

50k! You must have one hell of an alignment!

That's what I said! Still after 155k the tires wear evenly all around. Love my X!

My 03 X5 3.0 managed to get 68k out of the OEM MXV 4's,
The thread still had at least 10k of life in it, but went with new Michellin HP touring from COSTCO, handling is little more squiggly but that is expected from new tires.
Overall I'm happy and the piece of mind knowing that family and kids ride on new tires is priceless.

I'm leaning towards the Latitude HP.. could you elaborate on the "squiggly" comment. How's the noise level?

I put the Bridgestone Alenzas on my 2003 X5 3.0 and like them a whole lot better than the Michelins. Car handles much better - more like BMW I felt that the ride with the Michelin Energys was too soft and handling rather vague, Night and day with the Duelers car is much more fun to drive especially thru the twisties.
